Modeling as a side quest?

Modeling as a side quest?

Nice to meet you!

I'm Heather — an interdisciplinary creative based in LA studying Cognitive Science + Global Health @ USC.

While those subjects may sound like two completely different things, they perfectly encapsulate my design approach and central ethos: using our understanding of human nature and the systems we live in to actualize ideas that enhance lives.

ABOUT ME

My perspective as a designer is an extension of my lifelong goal to learn as much as possible about the world: from universals of the human condition to the individual circumstances that differentiate our unique lived experiences, I'm most excited when I get to challenge and expand my worldview. Design then gives me a way to channel this curiosity and marry it with an analytical lens, product sense, and the creative freedom in order to create impact.

Nowadays, I'm exploring how generative AI and neurodesign (neuroscience + design!) can help deliver more innovative design solutions.

Currently looking for full-time product design roles beginning Summer 2026, open to freelance opportunities through Fall/Winter 2025.

Outside of design, I devote my time to:

  • Training hip hop and freestyle dance in local street dance scenes

  • Dabbling in creative projects with my friends

  • Falling off rock climbing walls

  • Learning new riffs on the guitar

MY DESIGN PRINCIPLES

Systems thinking

Products are mere pieces in a larger puzzle that, together with extraneous factors, constitute a user's holistic experience. This 'system-level' view allows me to tackle complex product and technical problems by diving deep into the 'why?'

Relentless curiosity

My work is driven by a deep desire to use my skills to serve others, which I practice through extensive conversation and testing with my users. Immersing myself into their realities allows me to design from a place of empathy, not ego.

Creating with intention

Designers wield the power to shape the narratives of the products we create. With this responsibility in mind, when designing I always ask myself, 'How can I leave the world a better place?'
